Pineapple slices

Dehydrated pineapple slices

Dehydrated pineapple is a sweet snack. The flavors are concentrated during the drying process, and the result is satisfyingly chewy.

Ingredients: 

Pineapple

Directions: 

Using a Slicer

  • Cut off top
  • Center pineapple slicer and spin slicer down through fruit
  • Cut slices in half

Without a slicer

  • Cut off tough skin on sides and leaves on top
  • Slice into 1/4 - 3/8 inch-slices
  • Remove core for each slice

Place on Dehydrating Trays and dehydrate for 2 hour at 145° F. Turn down to 135° F for 4-6 hours.

Step 1 - the pineapple
Step 2 - Cut off top and center pineappple slicer and spin
Step 3 - Cut in half
Step 2 - Cut off tough skin on sides and leaves on top
Step 3 - Cut out core & Slice into 1/4 - 3/8 inch-slices
Step 4 - Place on Dehydrating Trays
Step  5 - Finished dehydrated pineapple slices!

can you use canned pineapple?

I have dried canned pineapples many, many times and just LOVE the flavor. I use the sliced, I think the chunk would end up being too small pieces, but it's up to you. I dry off the slices first then cut them in quarters and place on my trays. I have a Presto dehydrator and 1 can will fit on 1 tray. Make sure they are good and dry before removing (it takes 8-10 hrs), they should bend but not break. Hope this helps. Oh and no citric acid needed.
