NESCO FD-80 Snackmaster Food Dehydrator - 2 Minute review

Brief, 2-minute walkthrough of the key features in the NESCO FD-80 Snackmaster Food Dehydrator. See a link the full review below.

Transcript / Notes:

Let’s take a quick look at the Nesco FD-80 Snackmaster food dehydrator. The Nesco FD-80 food dehydrator is a medium capacity food dehydrator with good expandability. It’s a stacking-type unit that comes with 4 trays that are stacked on each other.

The fan and heating element are located in a powerhead that sits on top of the trays. Heated air is forced down the exterior pressurized chamber, then flows across the trays into a channel at their center. This design promotes even airflow to all trays, which do not need to be rotated during drying, and prevents flavors from mixing. It also allows the capacity to be easily expanded by adding more trays.

Each tray is 14.5” x 14.5” and provides 1.4 sq ft of usable drying area. The FD-80 ships with 4 trays and provides 5.6 sq ft of base drying area. It can accept up to 8 trays total, giving it a maximum drying area of 11.2 sq. ft. Extra trays are available in sets of two.

The Nesco FD-80 Snackmaster has a 4.5” inch fan that runs at 2,400 RPM. The fan and heating element provide 700 watts of drying power. The FD-80 has an adjustable thermostat with a range of 95 to 160 degrees F. It does not have a power switch. The exterior is a light-blocking white plastic, which helps protect nutrients and vitamins during drying. This plastic is BPA-free. The FD-80 Snackmaster comes with 1 mesh insert for easy cleanup of sticky fruits. Additional mesh inserts and fruit leather trays can be purchased separately. It does not have a built-in timer.

With 4 trays, the Snackmaster FD-80 is 14.5” wide, 14.5” tall, and 9 5/8” tall. It weights 9.9 lbs. To check current pricing, and to find out more about this dehydrator, visit us at www.dehydratorreview.net
