Let’s take a quick look at the Nesco FD-75PR 700-Watt food dehydrator, also known as the 5 tray Snackmaster Pro.

The Nesco FD-75 food dehydrator is a medium capacity dehydrator with good expandability. It’s a round stacking dehydrator that comes with 5 trays. The fan and heating elements are located in a power head that sits on top of the trays.  The power head can be lifted off the trays with a built-in bale handle.  Instead of forcing air through the trays, the top-mounted fan forces heated air down the exterior pressurized chamber, then horizontally across each tray into the channel at the center.  This design provides even airflow to all trays, which do not need to be rotated during drying, and prevents flavors from mixing. It also allows the capacity to be easily expanded by adding more trays.

Each tray is  13.5” in diameter and provides a little less than 1 sq ft of usable drying area. The FD-75 ships with 5 trays and provides a base drying areas of 4.5 sq ft . It can accept up to 12 trays total, giving it a maximum drying area of 10.8 sq. ft. Extra trays are available in sets of two.

The Nesco FD-75 has a top-mounted fan and heating element that provide 700 watts of drying power.  The FD-75 has an adjustable thermostat with a range of 95 to 160 degrees F. It does not have a power switch or a built-in timer.

The exterior is a light-blocking white and gray plastic, which helps protect nutrients and vitamins during drying. Plastic that comes in contact with food is BPA-free. The FD-75 Snackmaster comes with 2 mesh inserts, 2 fruit leather sheets , and 3 jerky spice packets.

With 5 trays installed, the Snackmaster FD-75 is approximately 13.5” in diameter, and 10 inches tall. It weights 9 lbs.
