This video takes a quick run through the design, capacity, and key features of the Excalibur 3900 9-tray food dehydrator.

Transcript / Notes:

Today we’re going to take a quick look at the Excalibur 3900 9 tray food dehydrator.

The Excalibur 3900 is large dehydrator. It’s a shelf-type unit that comes with 9 trays that slide into the main box from the front. The 3900 has a heavy-duty rear mounted fan that blows heated air horizontally across the trays from the back to the front. It’s designed to have even airflow across all trays so that they don’t need to be rotated during drying.

Each tray measures 15” x 15”, providing 1.7 sq ft of drying area per tray. With 9 trays total, the 3900 provides a maximum drying area of 15 sq ft. The Excalibur 3900 has a heavy duty 7” fan. The fan and heating element provide 600 watts of drying power.

The 3900 has an adjustable thermostat with a range between 85 degrees and 155° F. It also has a main on/off switch. The case of the Excalibur 3900 is light-blocking ABS plastic, which protects nutrients in the food while it is being dried. Next to the temperature control knob is a printed guide listing recommended temperature settings. The 3900 is made by Excalibur in Sacramento, California. It does not have a built-in timer.

The Excalibur 3900 is 22 inches wide, 19 inches deep, and 12.5 inches tall. It weights 22 lbs.
