One of the cool things you can do with a dehydrator is make your own raw granola. In this case, "raw" means keeping the temperature below 120°F to preserve nutrients and enzymes. This recipe is a basic but satisfying granola that's not too sweet. The dehydrator won't turn the granola golden brown like an oven would, but it will result in granola that is crispy and crunchy.
3 cups Rolled Oats flakes
1 cup Rolled Wheat flakes
1 cup Rolled Barley flakes
1/8 cup Wheat bran
1/8 cup Oat bran
1 cup Pumpkin seeds raw
1 cup Coconut
1 cup Sun Flower seeds raw
3/4 cup Walnuts
3/4 cup Dates
1/2 cup Honey
1/2 cup Oil
1/2 cup hot Water
2 teaspoons Vanilla
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
Combine Honey, Oil, water, vanilla & Cinnamon in a large bowl. Add flakes and mix. Add remaining ingredients. Spoon on plastic Dehydrating trays and smooth to create an even layer. Dehydrate at 105° - 115° for 18-24 hours. If you have the room, this is a good recipe to make while drying other fruits and vegetables.
